Finding Uhuru (2017)

What does it mean to be truly free today, wherever you might be? Although at first it seems as though they are from different worlds, teachers Uhuru and Cordelia quickly become a unit, and an educating force to be reckoned with. ‘Finding Uhuru’ or ‘Finding Freedom’ is a bilingual play, dealing with the themes of bullying, gender equality and professional aspirations whilst highlighting the joys of embracing other cultures. Finding Uhuru features music and dance delivered through audience participation. The play focuses on the personal struggles of Uhuru, Cordelia and Mr Ninan. Throughout the play they learn to work together to overcome these struggles and learn important life lessons.

This play was toured in Tanzania in 2017 to an overwhelmingly positive reception.
